Results of a survey conducted for selection of hazardous waste disposal site are presented here. A chemical industry near Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh wanted a suitable site to construct a landfill structure for disposing the hazardous wastes generated at the factory. The site for hazardous waste disposal should be underlined either by hard basement or thick clay zone and should have no leakage to aquifer. Resistivity surveys were conducted by IGIS to select the suitable sites for hazardous waste disposal. The following figure shows the inferred subsurface formations at one of the location in the factory premises. It can be seen from the figure that there is a fractured strata in the middle and necessary precautions are to be taken to seal this zone.
