Carried out a Research Project on Financing for Sustainable
Development hosted by Stanford University in collaboration with
Water Partner’s International (USA).
The main aim of the project is Collection of data and field surveys
in low-income groups for providing Basic Needs like Drinking water,
Sanitation etc. through Micro Financing Methods with Self Help
Groups (SGH)
Micro-financing is a scheme in which the members of SGH, contribute
small amounts of their earnings/savings to accumulate into usable
large sums of money, which, in turn, provided as a loan at a very
low interest to the members of SGH to invest in small scale business
with a view to improve their financial status and living standard.
Procedure and Protocol of field surveys:
• A number of enumerators (qualified business management graduates)
were recruited for the purpose.
• All enumerators are trained for two weeks in collection of data,
usage of Digital PDAs, handling of Digital Camera and Interaction
with Respondents in local languages (Telugu, Hindi, Urdu)
• Surveys conducted in different circles of Hyderabad Municipality
• All the field surveys are conducted by digital PDA with all the
questions programmed with different Permutations and Combinations
based on respondent’s requirements.
• All the PDA’s are equipped with Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
to locate the position where the field surveys are conducted.
• All the enumerators are provided with Digital Cameras to take
pictures of the respondents and important sites to be highlighted |
